## General Summary

A hands-on CPU hardware architect and designer to develop, and define CPU features in the areas of MMU, security, memory protection, and virtualization. The role combines RTL design, microarchitecture definition, and architecture work, covering the development of features from architectural requirements and design tradeoffs through microarchitecture, technical specifications, implementation, and integration.

Deliver robust and secure CPU features while meeting functional, performance, power, and area goals.

## Responsibilities

• Own and contribute to the design, microarchitecture, and architecture definition of CPU features and modules related to MMU, security, address translation, TLBs, page-table walks, virtualization, isolation, and memory protection.
• Analyze architectural requirements and system constraints, evaluate design alternatives, and translate them into clear microarchitectural definitions and implementable hardware solutions.
• Perform hands-on RTL design and implementation of complex CPU modules and features, including integration, debug, optimization, and closure toward performance, power, and area goals.
• Define and review hardware interfaces, behavior, flows, and mechanisms across module, CPU, and system boundaries.
• Write and review architecture, microarchitecture, and design specifications, maintaining consistency between architectural intent, hardware definitions, and RTL implementation.
• Investigate complex technical problems, identify design, microarchitectural, or architectural tradeoffs, and drive solutions across design and system boundaries.

## Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience in hands-on RTL design and implementation of complex hardware blocks or features.
• Experience defining microarchitecture from architectural requirements, high-level specifications, or system constraints.
• Ability to work across design, microarchitecture, and architecture abstraction levels.
• Experience with technical specifications, design reviews, requirement definition, and cross-functional technical discussions.
• Familiarity with processor systems, memory subsystems, or bus/interconnect architectures.
• Experience driving designs toward functional, performance, power, and area goals.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.

## Preferred Background / Qualifications

• Experience with the design, microarchitecture, or architecture of CPU, MMU, LSU, cache, interconnect, or related hardware blocks.
• Experience taking complex hardware features from requirements and architectural intent through microarchitecture and RTL implementation.
• Familiarity with security-related architecture topics such as isolation, privilege and security mechanisms, secure execution, memory safety, or related protection features.
• Good understanding of one or more of the following:
• Virtual memory and address translation
• TLBs and page-table walks
• Virtualization and isolation
• Security-oriented memory protection
• CPU or SoC architecture

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.
• OR
• Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field and 1+ year of Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.
• OR
• PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
